Chef Spotlight: The Culinary Journey of Chef YoYo

Let me tell you about someone special I met early in my culinary and hospitality journey— Chef YoYo. We were both part of the same culinary class group at Red Dish Chronicles School in Lagos, Nigeria.

From the very beginning, it was clear that YoYo had something special about her. She’s always been an easygoing and fun person to be around, and I could see how passionate she was about her work. Today, that passion is paying off in big ways.

One of my fondest memories of YoYo is when she asked me to help her with a booth she was running at Street Souk, a streetwear convention in Lagos. She had her stall, and it was my first time seeing her in action.

Watching her handle the booth, preparing the food with so much energy, focus, and passion, I knew she was going to do great things for herself. It wasn’t just about the food for her; it was about creating an experience for people, and she was incredible at it.

Since our time in culinary school, YoYo has made a name for herself. She’s become known as a reliable and strong private chef, working for the likes of Chef Cole, who specialises in fine dining dinners and events.

But even more impressive is how she’s built the YoYo brand into what I believe will be the top private catering and dining service in Lagos. She is no stranger to experimenting and constantly challenges herself to create unique culinary experiences for her guests, which I’m sure is going to get better as time goes on.

I'm genuinely happy to have met her and even prouder of all the success she’s achieved in just a few short years. She’s a rising star, and I do not doubt that Chef YoYo is going to keep that momentum going. Keep an eye on her—she’s just getting started!
